Unique DIY Wreaths for Your Home this Holiday Season

A DIY Christmas Wreath Made from WinecorksGiving your Oxbow home a fresh look is as easy as making a do-it-yourself wreath project. Something as simple as that can do wonders for your home! Are you looking to trim a door, wall, window, or any other area of your house? Wreaths are the way to go. The thing is, though, a typical store-bought wreath costs a lot, and it may not fit the aesthetic you’re looking for. This is a good opportunity for you to opt for DIY wreaths this season.

Bicycle wheel. Upcycle an old bicycle wheel into a wreath full of vintage fun. Simply twine real or fake evergreen boughs around the rim, then wrap it in a festive red rope or ribbon. A bright bow might not seem much, but with a little creativity, it could add a lot of flavor to your entryway or door.

Peanut wreath. For a touch of the unconventional, why not create a wreath out of unshelled peanuts? A foam wreath form is a great way to piece together peanuts in their shells because you can glue them on it! To finish it off, use a burlap ribbon and tie it around the whole thing like a bow.

Cookie cutters. Baking cookies on the holidays is a thing, yes. But, how about we take that up a notch by making a wreath that reflects this season! Start by gluing decorative paper to the back of several cookie cutters. Then, glue the cookie cutters into a circular shape. Lastly, tie a pretty ribbon around it and then hang it anywhere in your home for that cute holiday look.

Wine corks. Have you been wondering what to do with the wine bottle corks in your stash? If so, turn them into a fun wreath for the holidays! Using a straw or twig wreath form, simply glue your corks in concentric circles to cover. To add the finishing touches, you can make use of floral wire to bind some sprigs of evergreen and bright holly berries

Sheet music. Who doesn’t love holiday music, right? You can incorporate that with your wreath so as to express the musical side of you. Take a few torn sheets of music, twist or curl them, and glue them together in a circular shape. Add some colorful paper rosettes to the inner ring to craft the perfect musical decoration for your home.

PVC pipe. Not just for plumbing, PVC pipe can be used to make a unique wreath for your home! Simply cut different sizes of PVC pipe into thin sections, then glue them together (with open sides facing outward) into a circular arrangement. After spray painting the pipe a pretty gold or another color, fill the openings of the pipes with colorful ornaments for a festive decoration.

Socks. Look around your laundry room for old or single socks. Instead of throwing them out, why not use them to make your next wreath? You can trace the form of a wreath onto a foam core. After finishing, you can then cut out the form and glue the socks onto it, wrapping the entire thing with all the available socks you have. Then, fit the whole thing back inside the embroidery hoops and decorate.

Ties. If you have a bunch of neckties lying around, you can also use those to make a holiday wreath. You can use a foam wreath form as a mold to wrap and pin your neckties on. And then, glue the loose ends to the back of the form to hold them firm. Afterward, use leftover fabric to craft a bow to finalize your beautiful holiday wreath that’s dressed to impress.
